PC Andrew Harper murder trial to resume tomorrow
The trial of three men charged with the murder of Police Constable Andrew Harper is set to resume tomorrow (June 17) after being suspended earlier this year.
PC Harper, 28, was killed as he responded to a call for burglary in Berkshire in August last year. The Thames Valley Police officer had been married for less than four weeks when he died.
Henry Long, Albert Bowers and Jessie Cole had been on trial before a jury was discharged in March when three jurors began self-isolating a few days before the country was put on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.
At the time, Cole and Bowers could not be identified because of their age but have since turned 18. They deny manslaughter and have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal a quad bike.
Long has admitted manslaughter and conspiracy to steal a quad bike.
All three men deny murder.
A fourth man, Thomas King, has previously admitted conspiring to steal a quad bike. He will be sentenced with the others at the end of the trial.
