New assistant chief constable will be a 'valuable addition' to West Mercia Police
Rachel Jones will join West Mercia Police this month as the new assistant chief constable for local policing and operations.
Chief Constable Anthony Bangham said Ms Jones, currently working for the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC), would be “a valuable addition to the force”.
Before moving to the NPCC, Ms Jones, who lives in Worcestershire, was temporary assistant chief constable at West Midlands Police with responsibility for forensics, criminal justice services, CID, public protection and intelligence.
Prior to this she performed various roles within local policing, child protection and professional standards. Before joining West Midlands Police she was South West regional lead for intelligence.
Ms Jones began her career with Gloucestershire Constabulary where she undertook a wide range of uniformed, detective and business-related roles, as well as tactical firearms, public order and major incident command.
Mr Bangham said: “I am pleased to welcome Rachel to West Mercia Police. She brings with her a wealth of experience and I know that she will be a valuable addition to the force and help us further enhance the service we give to our communities.”
Ms Jones, who was appointed after a thorough interview process last month, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining West Mercia Police, which serves the area in which I have lived for most of my life. I am really looking forward to working with colleagues, partners, and the public, to serve the communities of the three counties.”
