The Vauxhall Vivaro van was taken from outside Lowestoft police station on Saturday evening (November 10) and found abandoned at around 1am the following day.

Officers had responded to several reports that the van was being driven erratically at a number of different locations.

Sean Warman, 27, from Lowestoft, was arrested later that morning and charged with seven offences allegedly committed on the same day: aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, blackmail, robbery, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and two counts of impersonating a police officer.

Warman appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court via video-link and was remanded in custody until December 10. No pleas were made.
