New parliamentary appeal to legalise incest
MSPs are to debate plans to legalise incest this week.
MSPs took just over one minute to dismiss a bid to decriminalise incest for the third time.
A new proposal will be discussed again at the Scottish Parliament on Thursday (December 21).
The Public Petitions Committee will consider Richard Morriss repeated appeal to decriminalise incest between persons of legal age of consent, and grant people in adult consensual incestuous relationships the same right to marry as all other consenting adults.
MSPs threw out an almost identical petition in January 2016, insisting there was “no indication at all” of support for such a change.
Mr Morris is taking his case back to MSPs to tell them how wrong you are about us, how badly people like us are misunderstood, and how ignorance and prejudice are effecting our lives.
At the last hearing, Michael McMahon, the then convener of Holyrood`s Public Petitions Committee, said there was “no indication at all” of support for such a change.
