The Home Office Biometrics (HOB) programme is seeking potential suppliers for fingerprint devices and associated capture software, together with law enforcement workflow/process management solutions for frontline law enforcement.

It says the prior information notice is a market engagement exercise as part of its Strategic Mobile Solution.

The HOB is seeking to engage with potential suppliers via a questionnaire and then holding potential one-to-one engagements to scope the “feasibility and market interest in building the new services”.

It says responses to the questionnaire and feedback from potential supplier meetings will be used to help refine the Home Office approach to delivering the new services.

The HOB adds that the exercise aims to “provide the market with an opportunity to find out about the project requirements and general direction at an early stage”.

Intended to build on informal feedback HOB has already received through previous market engagements, the strategy will specifically look at the current capabilities and capacity, if they exist, in the marketplace to meet its upcoming fingerprint technology needs.

This will include understanding any concerns suppliers may have about the Home Office’s approach to acquiring fingerprint capabilities for law enforcement, and whether there are any major risks, issues or challenges that can be avoided.
