Belgian media reports that one officer was stabbed in the neck and another in the stomach on Wednesday (October 5) as the attacker broke a third officers nose.
The suspect was then shot in the leg and arrested. The officers wounds are not thought to be life threatening.
Authorities have named the attacker as 43-year-old Hicham Diop, 43, a Belgian former soldier who unsuccessfully ran in the 2004 Brussels regional elections.
He has been charged with attempted murder in a terrorist context and participation in the activities of an as-yet unspecified terrorist group.
The news emerged just hours after Brussels Nord railway station was shut down as officers investigated a bomb scare.
Police swept the station causing major delays, but found no trace of explosives.
Belgium has been on high alert after the March bombings at Brussels airport and Maalbeek station killed 32 and injured 340 in the biggest terror attack in the countrys history.
In August, two female officers were attacked with a machete outside the police headquarters at Charleroi.
One officer suffered an injury to her jaw, and the other suffered a large facial scar as well as life threatening injuries.
