A North Yorkshire Trading Standards officer and an investigative team at the Department for International Development (DFID) have won the 2011 Keith Hughes Awards.
The seventh annual Keith Hughes Awards were presented at the Payback Regional Asset Recovery Teams (RART) national best practice event in Stratford-Upon-Avon on Monday February 27. The awards recognise excellence in financial investigation and the successful application of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) and money laundering legislation. They are open to all accredited financial investigators (AFIs) and prosecutors using POCA in the UK, excluding Scotland.
The Keith Hughes Awards were established in memory of Detective Constable Keith Hughes, a financial investigator with the former National Crime Squad, who died from cancer in July 2003.
Joanna Bramley, North Yorkshire County Council Trading Standards, beat off stiff competition from North Yorkshire Police and South East RART, to win the Financial Investigation Individual Award.
