Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) Commander Ali Dizaei has been cleared of allegations that he misused his corporate credit card.
Mr Dizaei was suspended after he was accused of spending over £5,000 on clothes and perfume while visiting the US. However, an inquiry by Dorset Chief Constable Martin Baker concludes no evidence of wrongdoing by Mr Dizaei has been found.
Mr Dizaei remains suspended over criminal charges for misconduct related to a dispute in a restaurant.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) said he will face no further action on the matter after a meeting of the Metropolitan Police Authority agreed the decision.
Alfred John, of the Metropolitan Black Police Association, said Mr Dizaei always thought the claims were without foundation.
Mr Dizaei was one of many officers under scrutiny after a wider probe examining abuse of the corporate credit card system within the MPS.
An IPCC spokesman said the investigation into the use of a corporate card by an MPS officer of Association of Chief Police Officers rank found no evidence that the officer acted dishonestly or with any lack of integrity.
